Now Or Never, Getting A Fresh Start

Today is New Years Eve, today and tomorrow will most likely be filled with cliche ways to better yourself, start anew, and of course no one could forget New Years Resolutions even though at times im sure we wish we could. I'm here to add onto this in a new light, i'm not here necessarily to say "you can do better" because who said this wasnt your year? Im also not here to say "it'll get better next year", because in all honesty maybe it wont. Im here to say new year new you, or to at least promote it, yes this very cliche very popular instagram caption is what im writing to you about.

God wants us to start anew, Isaiah 43:18-19 says this

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up, do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."

Have you ever met a person who is consumed by a person or situation, that's kind've how we are with the new year - its difficult to move on. We're redundant. "That" person is often so consumed over that one thing that theyre constantly bringing it up, causing everyone around them to be constantly reminded of when they said "im done with them", "im not putting up with it anymore", "im moving on". Start anew, it will benefit you better than any other person. Just as it should, do it for youself, see the difference in those arround you.

Stop Making Excuses,

Matthew 12:36

"I tell you, on the day of judgement people will give account for every careless word they speak"

2 Corinthians 5:10

"For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil."

Many of us can relate to falling into the habit of "oh Jesus will always be there for me" while this is true we take advantage of this sometimes knowingly and unknowingly. Instead of stopping in our sins we like to stack them up knowing that God will forgive us. Instead of giving God the reigns to our life we let our ego take over, doing nothing for us except giving ourselves a temporary feeling of control.

We ultimately give up our obedience to fall back into our old habits.

Act In Faith Matthew 9:29

"Then he touched their eyes and said, 'According to your faith let it be done to you"

Take some time to evaluate your life; your failures, you as a person, spiritual well being, the good, the bad, the painful. What have you learned? What are your assets? What you get out of life is partially what you put in. You may need to raise or lower your expectations, lose regrets , get rid of pity parties, learn from failures and call it education, grow through what you go through, and set goals that are reasonable and be ok with the outcome because if your meeting all of your goals then your setting the bar too low.

Refocus Psalm 1:1-3

"Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prosper"

We need to engage in renewal of our minds; what we think is what we feel, what we feel is how we act, how we act reflects what we behold, and what we behold is what our true focus is on.

Romans 12:2

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

Try looking at yourself and the world around you through God's perspective, you might be surprised by what you find.

Trust, Proverbs 3:5-6

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

In the new year trust in the Lord with everything, take to the Lord and give him your burdens and worries lay everything at His feet. God wants to talk to us and sometimes we wonder why God is being silent we convince ourselves that he doesnt care or he doing this to get back at us, we are wrong. God is continually at work, he continually is listening to us but he cant listen if we dont talk to him. Prayer is like a telephone line God cant pick up if no one is calling. Trust in God and depend on him, we all have witnessed through our failures and hardships that we cant trust ourselves or go into a storm alone.

In the new year I wish you all a year full of understanding, trust, gratitude, happiness, health, friendship and fellowship, success and blessings! Feel free to contact me with anything even if its anonymous!
